Bill Hao

Bill Hao is an international student from China. He came to Wakefield school in the sophomore year when he was fifteen. Bill Hao has been educated in the completely different cultural background. China is ruling by the communist party and the United States is a capitalist country. Bill chose to write this topic because he has great interests in politics, also he found out so many people have misunderstandings about the communist idea. Thus in his paper, Bill clarifies that the concept of communism is not bad, but it is so romantic that it is so difficult to achieve in the reality.

The method he used is to examine the history of two communist states, the Soviet Union and China. Bill interviewed his father about the two major campaigns, the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. The purpose of these two campaigns was to build the communist society in China but they were unsuccessful. Bill finds out the reasons about why and hope all of us can learn from these experiences so we will not make the same mistake again, also how we can do better and try our best to achieve such an Utopian idea in the future.
